A Little Night Music

Why see A Little Night Music?

a rare gem

A rarely presented gem, Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's heartwarming portrait of love's entanglements come to the Marriot Theatre, directed by Nick Bowling and choreographed by Katie Johannigman. Based on Ingmar Bergman's film Smiles of a Summer Night, A Little Night Music is set in a weekend country house in 1900 Sweden, bringing together surprising liaisons, long-simmering passions, and a taste of love's endless possibilities.

What is the story?

An elegant portrayal of the tangled lives we humans can lead, the story focuses on members of the Egerman family in turn-of-the-century Sweden. The aging lawyer and patriarch Frederik Egerman tries to keep his teenage bride Anne happy, while his son falls deeply in love with her. Tensions are compounded with the arrival of Frederik's former lover, the famed yet fading actress Desiree Armfeldt, and her jealous beau Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm. Formed with great hilarity, wit, and poignant moments, this moving masterpiece is not to be missed!
