The world premiere of a brand new musical

Marriott Theatre proudly presents the premiere of a brand new musical based upon the beloved 1990s film. October Sky is the inspiring story of two boys determined to make a life for themselves outside of the coal mining town they've grown up in. Told against the backdrop of the USA's very first explorations of space.

Created by Universal Pictures' live theatre subsidiary, Universal Stage Productions (Wicked, Billy Elliott), this brand new musical sees its world premiere in Chicago under the watchful eye of the Marriott Theatre.

What is October Sky about?

It's the late 1950s and for two young boys growing up in West Virginia, their futures are pretty much sealed - they'll follow in their father's footsteps and continue working in the local coal mines. But when the very first Sputnik makes its way across the heavens, it lights up more than just the night sky, for Homer and his brother's imaginations are lit with the possibility that there might be more waiting out there for them.
